Scott Mullen will join the UCF Bands Staff as a Graduate Teaching Assistant in the fall of 2021, working with the concert bands, chamber winds ensembles, the Marching Knights and Jammin Knights pep band, and assisting with special events and program administration. Scott has taught in the Orange County Public Schools for five years, most recently as Director of Bands, Chorus, and Orchestra at Wedgefield School on the east side of Orlando. Under his direction, enrollment in music classes doubled and all ensembles performed frequently in the surrounding community with a reputation of excellence. Prior to teaching at Wedgefield, Scott opened the OCPS Academic Center for Excellence as Director of Band and Orchestra.
Scott earned a Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of Central Florida in 2016. He was actively involved in the School of Music, performing in nearly every instrumental ensemble. He served as Head Drum Major of the Marching Knights, Principal Trombonist of the Symphony Orchestra, and Parliamentarian of both the UCF and state chapters of C-NAfME. Scott is also a brother of Kappa Kappa Psi, and a member of FMEA, FBA, and NAfME.
