Diego Meraz

Diego Meraz is a Graduate Teaching Assistant for UCF Bands. His responsibilities include working in all facets of UCF Bands.

Diego Meraz earned his Bachelor of Music Education from Eastern New Mexico University. During his time at ENMU, Diego was a member of the Greyhound Sound Marching Band, Wind Symphony, Jazz Ensemble, and the ENMU Saxophone Ensemble. Diego served as drum major for the Greyhound Sound in 2023 and 2024. In 2024, the Greyhound Sound was recognized nationally for winning Metallica’s inaugural ‘For Whom the Band Tolls!’ Marching Band Competition for Division II/III. In addition, Diego recently performed as the principal saxophonist for the 2025 CBDNA National Intercollegiate Honor Band. He also won first place at the ENMU Friends of Music Scholarship Competition in 2023 and 2024.

Diego has been assisting local high school bands in New Mexico. During the summer, he works as a saxophone instructor for the Clovis High School Wildcat Marching Band, a program known for its excellence and success throughout Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, Utah, and Missouri. The CHS Band has an impressive reputation, including 12 consecutive wins at the Zia Marching Band Fiesta and first-place finishes at the 2022 BOA New Mexico Regional Championship and the 2022 BOA Arizona Regional Championship.
